Hunting for the best WordPress portfolio themes that someone still maintains? We opened every entry on this page directly on ThemeForest in September 2026 and read the licence price, the sales count and the last update date off each item page. Fifteen entries did not survive that pass: two were dead, two could not be verified, and the rest had gone a year or more without an update or sat below a 4.0 rating. What replaced them is 24 curated themes, six of them new to this collection, each with a full review, a working demo and figures we checked this week rather than copied from 2021.

How to choose a WordPress portfolio theme

Start with the last update date, because portfolio themes age faster than most. Animation libraries, lightbox scripts and Elementor widgets all move, and a theme that has sat still for two years usually shows it the first time a client opens the site on a phone. Every theme below was updated in 2026 apart from a small number we flag explicitly.

Then match the layout to the work. Photographers and video makers need fullscreen and masonry grids; architects and designers need project pages that carry a story; agencies need a services section the portfolio hangs off. Finally, read ratings against sample size. A 5.00 from twelve buyers tells you far less than a 4.74 from two hundred thousand, and both numbers appear on this page.

New WordPress portfolio themes for 2026

Aachen from Mikado-Themes gives project photography the whole screen, with a numbered full-bleed slider and floating-projects layouts that keep the scale of the work. Moreover, it lists WordPress 6.7 to 7.0 support. However, it has 53 sales and no rating yet. It costs $89.

Zeyna is the best-selling creative agency theme released in the past year, with 886 sales at a 4.67 rating. Moreover, its Ajax page transitions move between the homepage, a project and the about page without a reload, so the animation carries across instead of restarting. In addition, pethemes ships thirteen homepage demos including a dedicated agency layout and a WooCommerce digital-services build. It costs $89, and pethemes shipped the last update on 9 August 2026.

Pixora rates 4.91 across 587 sales, one of the highest scores on ThemeForest from a real sample. Moreover, every one of its eight homepage concepts ships in matched light and dark versions rather than a palette toggle, and AQLOVA bundles the Figma source files with the licence. In addition, it already lists WordPress 7.0 support. It costs $59, and AQLOVA shipped the last update on 3 September 2026.

Rayo costs $33, discounted from a $39 list price, which makes it one of the cheapest current agency themes on ThemeForest. Moreover, five of its six homepages are agency facing, and dark mode is a switch in the header rather than a duplicate set of demos. However, 165 sales at a 4.33 rating is a thin record. OceanThemes updated it on 23 June 2026.

Sable commits to a dark, cinematic editorial design instead of offering dark as a colour option, and Wolf-Themes drives the motion with GSAP rather than stacked CSS transitions. Moreover, it ships grid, masonry, vertical and fullscreen portfolio layouts plus separate demo concepts for photographers, designers, artists, agencies and shops. In addition, Slider Revolution comes with the licence. It costs $89 and was updated on 8 September 2026.

Atomik builds every layout on Elementor Atomic widgets rather than the legacy widget set, which makes it the most current theme on this page. Moreover, axiomthemes ships six dark homepage demos covering creative work, AI agency, design studio and personal portfolio. However, it went on sale on 7 September 2026 and carries 8 sales and no rating, so nothing about it is proven yet. It costs $19.

Tandem is the only theme here written for architecture practices and interior designers rather than for creatives in general. Moreover, it ships full case study project pages instead of a bare portfolio grid, across nine homepage layouts. In addition, neuronthemes covers the Elementor Pro widgets itself, so free Elementor runs the demos. It costs $49, and with one sale it is completely unproven.

Ajax and motion-driven portfolios

Rhye holds a 4.91 rating across 2,093 sales, the best score of any established portfolio theme in this collection. Moreover, its Ajax page transitions move between projects without a reload, which is the effect most of this page tries to buy. In addition, ArtemSemkin updated it on 17 July 2026 and it now covers WordPress 7.0. It costs $69.

Wavo rates 4.87 across 3,727 sales and costs $39, which is the strongest price-to-evidence ratio on this page. Moreover, it builds entirely in Elementor and works with the free plugin as well as Pro. In addition, its compatibility list is unusually long, reaching back to WordPress 4.9 and forward to 7.0. However, Ninetheme last updated it on 31 March 2026.

Scape rates 4.86 across 1,851 sales and gives a portfolio a genuinely multipurpose spine, with WooCommerce and WPBakery both integrated. Moreover, Whitebox-Studio updated it on 13 July 2026. In addition, it suits a studio that sells alongside showing work. It costs $59, and the WPBakery dependency is worth weighing if your team edits in Elementor.

Mivon from bslthemes leans on GSAP parallax for its scroll behaviour, which gives an agency portfolio motion without the jitter that stacked CSS effects produce. Moreover, bslthemes updated it on 2 September 2026, so the code is current. In addition, it currently costs $18, the cheapest entry on this page. However, 133 sales is a small sample next to the established names below.

Clivo carries a 5.00 rating, the highest on this page, though from 372 sales rather than thousands. Moreover, it supports Elementor and WPBakery side by side, so neither builder locks you in. In addition, ypromo updated it on 2 July 2026. It costs $59 and joined this collection when the author moved it into ThemeForest’s Portfolio category.

Minimal and photography portfolios

Whizz costs $29, the cheapest established theme here, and rates 4.57 across 2,397 sales. Moreover, fox-themes updated it on 1 September 2026, so it is among the freshest entries on the page. In addition, it targets photography portfolios specifically rather than adapting a general layout. Therefore it is the obvious starting point on a small budget.

Kotlis rates 4.70 across 661 sales and builds around photography series rather than single images. Moreover, its galleries handle long sets without turning into a wall of thumbnails. In addition, Kotlis was updated on 21 June 2026 and costs $69. However, the sales figure is modest, so read the rating as encouraging rather than settled.

Bifrost holds 4,254 sales at a 4.55 rating and keeps the interface deliberately plain so the work carries the page. Moreover, its layouts stay readable on a phone, which several flashier themes here do not manage. However, neuronthemes last updated it on 5 January 2026, making it the oldest update among the themes we kept. It costs $59.

Lekker has 3,039 sales and a 4.36 rating, and Mikado-Themes updated it on 26 June 2026. Moreover, it leans on large type and generous whitespace, which suits a studio presenting a handful of substantial projects. However, it is the most expensive of the mid-range picks at $79, and the rating trails Rhye and Wavo.

Agency, studio and CV portfolios

Billey rates 4.88 across 1,450 sales and reads as an agency site with a portfolio attached rather than the reverse. Moreover, ThemeMove updated it on 20 August 2026. In addition, its services and team sections come built rather than improvised from generic blocks. It costs $69, and that agency framing is the reason to pick it over a pure portfolio theme.

Helion rates 4.86 across 1,073 sales and pairs a personal creative portfolio with a store, which is rarer than it sounds. Moreover, it suits an illustrator or designer selling prints beside the work. In addition, it was updated on 22 May 2026. It costs $69, and the shop integration is what justifies the price over a plain portfolio layout.

Arter rates 4.91 across 912 sales and targets CV and resume sites specifically, which makes it the pick for a freelancer rather than a studio. Moreover, it costs $39, well under most of this page. In addition, Arter was updated on 27 May 2026. Therefore it fits a single practitioner who needs credibility more than a project archive.

Eldon aims at artists rather than agencies, and its layouts treat a painting or a print the way a gallery would. Moreover, it holds 1,082 sales at a 4.28 rating. In addition, it was updated on 24 March 2026. However, at $85 it is among the most expensive themes here, and the rating is the weakest of the group.

Abstrak moved into ThemeForest’s Portfolio category when Axilthemes repositioned it, so it joins this collection from our corporate round-up. Moreover, it pairs a clean startup-agency layout with Bootstrap 5 markup and Elementor editing. In addition, Axilthemes updated it on 30 June 2026. It costs $31 and holds 1,045 sales at a 4.38 rating.

Multipurpose giants with real portfolio demos

Impreza has 120,217 sales at a 4.88 rating, which is the strongest combination of volume and score anywhere in this collection. Moreover, UpSolution ships its own builder plus full Elementor support, and the portfolio demos hold up against dedicated portfolio themes. In addition, it was updated in September 2026. It costs $69.

Bridge is the best-selling WordPress theme on ThemeForest with 224,042 sales at a 4.74 rating. Moreover, Qode repositioned it as a Creative Elementor and WooCommerce theme, and it now supports Elementor, WPBakery and Gutenberg rather than WPBakery alone. In addition, Qode updated it on 7 August 2026. It costs $69 and ships hundreds of demos.

BeTheme is the largest theme on ThemeForest by demo count and among the largest by sales, and Muffin Group updated it on 4 September 2026. Moreover, its prebuilt website library dwarfs everything else here, portfolio layouts included. In addition, the builder is its own rather than Elementor. It costs $69, and it is the safe answer when the brief has no unusual requirement.

Ronneby holds 28,357 sales at a 4.83 rating and was built for speed before that became a selling point. Moreover, its portfolio module offers more grid and filter permutations than most dedicated portfolio themes. In addition, DFDevelopment updated it on 27 August 2026. It costs $49, which is low for a theme with that record.

Creative multipurpose alternatives

Ohio is genuinely minimal rather than merely uncluttered, and it was updated on 7 September 2026. Moreover, its creative portfolio demos are among the most copied designs on ThemeForest. However, check the builder before buying: ThemeForest now titles it an Elementor theme while the item description still describes WPBakery and ACF Pro. It costs $59.

Uncode has 138,144 sales at a 4.89 rating, and undsgn updated it on 1 September 2026. Moreover, its concept homepages are designed rather than assembled, which shows immediately in a portfolio that has to look considered. In addition, the gallery and grid system is the deepest on this page. It costs $59.

Oshine ships 62 demos and its portfolio display options go deeper than any general multipurpose theme bothers with, which is exactly why creative studios keep buying it. Moreover, brandexponents holds 38,194 sales at a 4.80 rating. However, the page builder is the theme’s own, so layouts do not travel if you switch later. It costs $69 and was updated on 22 April 2026.
