Looking for AMP WordPress themes that still get updates in 2026? This month we opened the ThemeForest page of 79 news, magazine and blog themes we have reviewed. Of those, 19 had been removed from sale. Then we kept only the themes whose own item page names AMP support. The result is 18 AMP-ready WordPress themes, each with a full review and a price checked in September 2026.

We also dropped four themes that mention AMP. One rates below 4.0, one mentions AMP only in a changelog fix, and two have not been updated in the last 18 months. Prices on this page run from $39 to $89.

How to choose an AMP WordPress theme

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages, an open format for fast, lightweight mobile pages. Many themes here do not create AMP pages on their own. Instead, they style the pages that an AMP plugin builds, so your AMP version still looks like your site.

First, check which plugin the theme expects. For example, Squaretype works with the official AMP plugin, while PenNews and MagPlus ship their own AMP add-ons. Next, look at the last update date, because AMP rules change and an old theme can fail validation. Finally, weigh the rating against the sales count. A 4.95 from a small theme is promising, but a 4.83 across 30,041 sales has faced far more buyers.

AMP news and magazine themes with the most buyers

These four have the largest sales counts on this page. All of them were updated in 2026.

JNews from jegtheme has the most sales on this page, 30,041, with a 4.83 rating. Its item page says it fully supports Google AMP and Facebook Instant Articles. Moreover, it lists Google AMP Ads, so ads still show on AMP pages. jegtheme updated it on 22 September 2026, and it costs $59.

Jannah from TieLabs is fully compatible with the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project, according to its item page. In addition, it has 25,862 sales and a 4.79 rating. It also adds BuddyPress support for community news sites. TieLabs updated it on 3 April 2026, and it costs $69.

Foxiz from Theme-Ruby lists AMP next to dark mode, podcast support, a paywall and AI content creation. As a result, it suits a news portal that wants many features in one theme. It holds a 4.87 rating across 8,722 sales. Theme-Ruby updated it on 13 September 2026, and it costs $59.

Pixwell, also from Theme-Ruby, gives one of the most detailed AMP statements here. It fully supports the AMP plugin in transitional mode and in all default templates, including posts and pages. Moreover, it holds a 4.85 rating across 5,900 sales. Theme-Ruby updated it on 20 August 2026, and it costs $59.

More AMP magazine themes with thousands of sales

Each of these three has more than 4,000 sales, and two of them bring their own AMP tools.

Zeen from codetipi says it is 100% compatible with AMP. It also adds its own options to extend the design of AMP pages. In addition, it holds a 4.86 rating across 5,821 sales and supports WooCommerce. codetipi updated it on 15 April 2026, and it costs $69.

PenNews from PenciDesign puts AMP in its product name: Multi-Purpose AMP WordPress Theme. Its item page says Google AMP and Facebook Instant Articles are supported and validated. Moreover, it ships a PenNews AMP plugin. It has 4,979 sales and a 4.79 rating. PenciDesign updated it on 9 June 2026, and it costs $59.

MagPlus from theme_bubble comes with its own MagPlus AMP plugin, now at version 1.5. The author claims AMP pages load five times faster on mobile, although we did not measure that. It has 4,145 sales and a 4.79 rating. However, its last update is from 27 April 2025, the oldest here. It costs $59.

AMP blog and magazine themes with matching AMP styles

These three come from the same author, codesupplyco. Each one adds styles to AMP pages so they match the main site.

Squaretype styles AMP pages to match your main design. You simply activate the official WordPress AMP plugin. It holds a 4.90 rating across 2,770 sales. codesupplyco updated it on 2 September 2026, and it costs $59.

Newsblock uses the same AMP approach as Squaretype, but it is built for news and magazine sites. In addition, dark mode is part of its product name. It holds a 4.86 rating across 2,283 sales. codesupplyco updated it on 24 August 2026, and it costs $69.

Uppercase is the third codesupplyco pick, a blog theme with styled AMP pages and a dark mode. Moreover, it holds a 4.90 rating across 1,084 sales. codesupplyco updated it on 1 September 2026, and it costs $59.

Affordable AMP-ready themes for smaller newsrooms

These four cost $59 or less. Two of them are the cheapest picks on this page at $39.

InHype from dedalx has the highest rating on this page, 4.95 across 1,240 sales. Its item page lists Google AMP support next to Google PageSpeed optimization. dedalx updated it on 25 May 2026, and it costs $57.

Papr from Axilthemes is Google AMP compatible through the AMP for WP plugin. In addition, it offers a dark mode. It holds a 4.76 rating across 1,506 sales. Axilthemes updated it on 19 August 2026, and it costs $39.

Blogar, also from Axilthemes, is the blog sibling of Papr and is Google AMP ready. It holds a 4.82 rating across 1,268 sales. Axilthemes updated it on 26 June 2026, and it also costs $39.

Vinkmag from XpeedStudio calls itself an AMP Newspaper Magazine WordPress Theme, and its changelog confirms added AMP compatibility. It has 2,090 sales and a 4.54 rating. XpeedStudio updated it on 29 October 2025, and it costs $59.

Minimal and multipurpose AMP blog themes

Finally, these four suit personal blogs and smaller magazines. Two were updated on 23 September 2026.

Veen from EstudioPatagon is a minimal, lightweight AMP blog theme. It supports AMP in transitional mode and has AMP demos for the home page and single posts. It holds a 4.93 rating across 1,926 sales. EstudioPatagon updated it on 5 February 2026, and at $89 it is the most expensive pick.

Disto from jellywp lists AMP support for a blog or magazine site. It has 1,188 sales and a 4.38 rating, the lowest here. jellywp updated it on 23 December 2025, and it costs $49.

Independent from zozothemes is a multipurpose blog and magazine theme with Google AMP on its feature list. It holds a 4.80 rating across 752 sales. zozothemes updated it on 23 September 2026, and it costs $79.

Newser, also from zozothemes, lists Google AMP as well. It has the fewest sales here, 371, but a 4.85 rating. zozothemes updated it on 23 September 2026, and it costs $69.

Should you still use AMP in 2026?

AMP is optional today. Google stopped requiring AMP for the Top Stories carousel in 2021, so a fast regular theme can compete as well. Still, many publishers keep AMP for speed on mobile, for AMP ads, or for other platforms that read AMP pages. Therefore, a theme that styles AMP pages keeps that choice open. If you drop AMP later, each theme above still serves its normal responsive pages.
