What is the difference between Astra Pro and Spectra Pro?
They are different products from the same company, Brainstorm Force. Astra Pro is an add-on for the Astra theme and adds a mega menu, sticky header, custom layouts and WooCommerce features. Spectra Pro is an add-on for the Spectra block plugin and adds dynamic content, a loop builder, popups and login forms to the WordPress editor. Each costs $69 per year for up to 3 websites.
Best for: Astra users who are not sure whether they need the theme add-on, the block add-on or a bundle with both
Astra Pro vs Spectra Pro is not a choice between two rivals. Instead, they are two different products from the same company, Brainstorm Force. Astra Pro extends the Astra theme, while Spectra Pro adds advanced blocks to the WordPress editor. So the real question is which one you need, or whether you need both. Below, we compare features and prices as we found them on 10 October 2026.
Astra Pro vs Spectra Pro comparison at a glance
To begin with, here is the short version in one table.
| Feature | Astra Pro | Spectra Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Product type | Add-on for the Astra theme | Add-on for the Spectra block plugin |
| Where it works | Header, footer, layouts and shop pages | Page content in the block editor |
| Theme you need | Astra | Any theme |
| Annual price | $69 per year | $69 per year |
| Lifetime price | $249 (listed $349) | $319 (listed $349) |
| Websites | Up to 3 | Up to 3 |
| Refund window | 14 days | 14 days |
In short, one tool shapes the theme and the other shapes the page. Therefore, the two barely overlap. Moreover, both pricing pages show the same $69 annual price, and both licenses cover up to 3 websites.
What Astra Pro does
This add-on needs the free Astra theme. Specifically, it extends the parts of a site that a theme controls. According to the official product page, the main modules are:
- Advanced header tools: mega menu, sticky header and page headers
- A Site Builder for custom headers, footers, hooks, single, archive and 404 layouts
- WooCommerce features such as quick view, infinite scroll and an off-canvas sidebar
- Blog layouts, including grid, list and masonry
- White label branding for agencies
The free theme is strong on its own, though. For example, it shows 1,000,000+ active installs and a 4.9-star rating from 6,537 ratings on WordPress.org. So a simple site can run on it without the add-on. For plans and renewals, see our Astra Pro pricing guide. Our Astra review covers the theme itself.
What Spectra Pro does
Spectra is a block plugin for the native WordPress editor. Its premium add-on needs the free plugin first. Unlike the theme add-on, it works inside page content. The official product page lists these features:
- Dynamic Content with data from ACF, Pods and Meta Box
- Loop Builder for custom lists of posts or products
- Popup Builder with exit intent, delay and scroll triggers
- Scroll-based entrance animations and Global Styles
- Advanced slider and modal blocks, plus a countdown timer
- Login and registration form blocks
Moreover, Spectra does not depend on Astra. Its pricing page says the blocks work with all themes, although the team optimizes them for Astra.
Legacy and Blocks: check before you buy
There is one catch. On WordPress.org, the original Spectra plugin now carries the name Spectra Legacy. It shows 1,000,000+ active installs and a 4.7-star rating from 1,870 ratings. However, its page says it now gets security and compatibility updates, but no new features. New features go into a separate plugin, Spectra Blocks, which appeared in July 2026 and shows 50,000+ installs.
The Legacy page ties Loop Builder and the login forms to “Spectra Pro Legacy”. Meanwhile, the pricing page we saved does not mention this split at all. So ask support which plugin your license covers before you pay.
How the prices compare
On their own, the two add-ons cost the same. Each one is $69 per year for up to 3 websites. Lifetime licenses differ, though. When we checked, the Astra add-on cost $249 once, while the Spectra add-on cost $319. Both pages show a listed lifetime price of $349.
Together, the two add-ons come to $138 per year for 3 websites. Alternatively, the Essential Toolkit + AI includes both. It costs $199 for the first year and renews at $299. In addition, it covers 10 websites and adds Ultimate Addons for Elementor, 300+ premium starter templates, AI tools and two hosted websites. Its lifetime price was $549. Finally, the Business Toolkit + AI covers 1,000 websites for $279, then $429 per year.
Be careful with one detail, however. The entry bundle, Astra Pro + AI, costs $99 for the first year, but it does not include Spectra Pro.
Which one do you need?
When the theme add-on is enough
Pick Astra Pro when your site runs on Astra and the gaps are in the frame. For example, you may want a mega menu, a sticky header, a custom 404 page or more shop options. It also fits people who build pages with Elementor, because Spectra’s blocks would go unused. In that case, browse our Elementor page builder themes too.
When the block add-on is enough
Choose Spectra Pro when you build pages in the block editor and need advanced popups, loops, dynamic content or login forms. Because Spectra works with any theme, you do not need Astra at all. Still weighing themes? Then read Kadence vs GeneratePress vs Blocksy vs Astra.
When a bundle with both makes sense
Go for the Essential Toolkit if you would buy both add-ons and manage more than 3 websites. Up to 3 sites, however, two separate licenses are cheaper at $138 per year. Therefore, do the math on your site count first. You can see every plan on the official Astra site. For more theme options, see our best multipurpose WordPress themes.
