Is the Monarch social sharing plugin still a good choice?
It is a reasonable free extra for Divi members, but not a plugin to buy on its own. Monarch adds share buttons for 20+ networks in five locations, plus follow buttons, pop-ups, fly-ins and share stats. The $89 yearly and $249 lifetime Divi plans include it. However, the official changelog shows no release since version 1.4.14 on April 1, 2021, and the live demo still shows a Google+ button.
Best for: Divi members who want styled share buttons on blog posts and images without paying for another plugin
The Monarch social sharing plugin from Elegant Themes adds share and follow buttons to WordPress. It places them in a floating sidebar, around your content, on images and in pop-ups. Like Bloom, Monarch has no price of its own, because every Divi membership includes it.
What the Monarch social sharing plugin does
Monarch has two jobs. First, it adds share buttons so readers can post your pages to their networks. The product page lists more than 20 sharing networks. Second, it shows follow buttons for your own profiles, with optional follower counts.
You decide which networks appear and in what order. In addition, Monarch can show network names, single counts or a total share count next to each button.

Five places to show share buttons
Monarch offers five locations. A floating sidebar stays on screen while the reader scrolls. Inline buttons sit above the content, below it or in both places. Media sharing fades buttons in when a visitor hovers over an image or a video.
The last two locations are automatic pop-ups and fly-ins. They use the same kind of triggers as Bloom: a timed delay, the bottom of a post, a scroll depth, a comment, a purchase or inactivity. As a result, you can ask for a share at the moment a reader finishes an article.

Follow buttons, design options and stats
For follow buttons, Monarch supports more than 30 profiles and networks. You add your profile links, and the plugin can pull your follower counts. Then you place the buttons in any widget area or with a shortcode, for example inside a Divi Text module.
Design control is generous for a sharing plugin. You get three button shapes, five sidebar hover effects and four inline hover effects. Moreover, buttons use each network’s own color by default, or you pick custom colors. A stats panel tracks shares, follows and likes, while import and export copies your setup to other sites.
Price: included with Divi
Elegant Themes does not sell Monarch separately. Its pricing page says the $89 yearly plan includes all themes and plugins, Monarch among them. The $249 lifetime plan covers the same suite. Both plans allow unlimited websites and offer a 30-day refund. Our Divi pricing guide compares every plan.
Is the Monarch social sharing plugin still updated?
The official changelog shows version 1.4.14, dated April 1, 2021, as the latest release. The first version shipped on October 22, 2014. We found no newer entry when we checked on October 19, 2026.
That gap shows. For example, the changelog notes that LinkedIn share counts were removed after LinkedIn retired that API. The live demo still shows Google+ and the old Twitter bird. Therefore, test every network you need on a staging site before going live.

Our verdict on Monarch
Running a Divi site already? Then the Monarch social sharing plugin is a free and tidy way to add share buttons. However, its last release is from April 2021, so check the networks you care about first. Try the official Monarch demo to see each location.
Finally, the same membership includes the Bloom email opt-in plugin and the Divi theme, which we cover in our Divi review.
