Kadence pairs the accessibility-ready tag with 500,000 active installs, the second-largest base here. In addition, it holds a 4.9 rating across 455 reviews. Its header and footer builder keeps landmarks and headings in order while you design. Kadence WP updated it on 24 July 2026.

OceanWP carries the most WordPress.org reviews on this list. It holds a 4.9 rating across 5,715 reviews, far more feedback than any other free pick. It also carries the accessibility-ready tag and runs on 400,000 active installs. Furthermore, it ships deep WooCommerce templates, so an accessible shop starts from the free version. The team updated it on 14 September 2026.

More free themes with the accessibility-ready tag

These three are also accessibility-ready. Each one suits a different starting point: a fast multipurpose site, an Elementor build or a WooCommerce shop.

Neve combines the accessibility-ready tag with a light front end. It holds a 4.7 rating across 1,282 reviews and runs on 200,000 active installs. Because it stays small, focus styles and contrast survive on slow connections too. ThemeIsle updated it on 12 August 2026.

Hello Elementor is the most installed theme here, with 1,000,000 active installs. It is a bare starter theme, and it carries the accessibility-ready tag. However, it holds a smaller 4.2 rating across 129 reviews, and your Elementor widgets decide most of the final markup. Elementor updated it on 25 August 2026.

Storefront is the official WooCommerce theme, and it is accessibility-ready. As a result, the cart, checkout and product pages start from tested markup. It holds a 4.5 rating across 155 reviews on 90,000 active installs. However, its last update is from 9 December 2025, the oldest date on this page.

Premium WordPress themes with a stated WCAG claim

These three premium themes name WCAG on their ThemeForest item page, not just the word “accessible”.

Uncode is the biggest seller on this page by far, with 138,396 sales and a 4.89 rating. Its item page lists WCAG accessibility compliance as a headline feature and points to digital inclusivity across its demos. Therefore it suits an agency that needs one accessible multipurpose theme for many clients. Undsgn updated it on 1 September 2026, and it costs $59.

Salmon holds a perfect 5.00 rating, although from a smaller base of 296 sales. Its ThemeForest tags read a11y, accessibility-ready, ada and wcag, and the author states WCAG 2.1 Level AA support plus keyboard access. In short, the author names the standard outright instead of hinting at it. FORQY updated it on 7 February 2026, and it costs $49.

Linguini comes from the same author as Salmon and has a much longer record: 4,893 sales and a 4.37 rating. Its item page names WCAG 2.1 Level AA, an accessible reservation form, an accessible image lightbox and full keyboard access. That reservation form matters, because booking is where restaurant sites usually fail a keyboard test. FORQY updated it on 7 February 2026, and it is the cheapest premium pick at $39.

Accessible WordPress themes for town and city government

Public-sector sites face the strictest rules. Both themes below are built for municipalities and say so on their item page.

TownPress calls itself an accessible theme for municipal, parish, town and city websites. Its ThemeForest tags open with “accessible”, and the author says it was built with accessibility and SEO practices in mind. It holds a 4.82 rating across 3,427 sales. LSVRthemes updated it on 4 September 2026, and it costs $59.

CityGov describes itself as an accessibility-ready municipality theme, in the author’s own wording rather than the WordPress.org tag. Furthermore, its changelog records repeated work on ADA and WCAG compatibility rather than a single claim at launch. It holds a 4.73 rating across 2,095 sales, and it ships departments, FAQ and events pages that town sites need. Dannci updated it on 16 February 2026, and it costs $59.

Start with Blocksy if you want the highest-rated free option, or OceanWP if you value the largest pool of free-theme user feedback. For a shop, Storefront gives you tested checkout markup for nothing.
