Found a WordPress site you love and want to know what theme it runs? Paste its address above and hit Detect theme. Our detector reads the site’s public source code, finds the active theme, and pulls its name, author and version — plus the parent theme if it’s a child theme, and any popular plugins it can spot along the way.
It also works as a WordPress template finder. Wondering how to search WordPress themes? Start from a site you already like instead of a keyword.
Asking “what WordPress template is this?” about a site? Paste its address, and the detector answers.
Note that this website template finder covers WordPress only. For Shopify or Wix sites, see the FAQ below.
People also call this a website theme detector. Use it as a WordPress theme search, or simply to check what theme a website runs.
It also works as a theme identifier and a WordPress template detector. In short, it helps you find WordPress theme details in seconds.
This tool can detect WordPress theme names on almost any public site. Simply ask “what theme is this?” and paste the link.
Wondering how to find out what theme a website is using? Paste the link above, and the detector names it. Still asking “what template is this”? The answer is the same.
Need a quick WP theme checker? This tool handles theme detection for any public WordPress site.
Others call it a theme searcher, a website theme checker or a website template detector. Still, the job is the same.
So, use it as a WordPress theme checker before you buy. Wondering how to check website template details? Paste the link, and read the result.
How the WordPress theme detector works
Every WordPress site loads its stylesheets and scripts from a folder like /wp-content/themes/theme-name/. Our tool fetches the page exactly like your browser does, finds those references, and then reads the theme’s style.css header — the file where every WordPress theme declares its name, author and version. No login, no installation, nothing touches the site being checked.
If the site uses a child theme, we follow the trail to the parent theme too, so you always learn what the design is really built on. We also list well-known plugins we can see in the source, like Elementor, WooCommerce or Slider Revolution. You will sometimes see tools like this called a WordPress theme finder or theme checker — different names, same job.
When the detector can’t identify a theme
A small number of sites hide their theme. Some use white-label security plugins that rename the wp-content folders, some block automated requests entirely, and some aren’t WordPress at all. In those cases we’ll tell you honestly what we found instead of guessing.
WordPress theme detector — FAQ
How can I find out what WordPress theme a site is using?
Paste the site’s URL into the detector at the top of this page. It reads the site’s public HTML, finds the active theme folder under /wp-content/themes/, and pulls the theme’s name, author and version from its style.css file. The whole check takes a few seconds.
Can a theme detector identify child themes?
Yes. If the detected theme’s style.css declares a Template, it is a child theme — the detector then also fetches the parent theme’s details, so you see both the child theme and the framework it is built on.
Why does the detector say the theme is hidden?
Some sites rename their wp-content folders with white-label plugins, block bots with a firewall, or strip theme headers from style.css. The detector can still often confirm the site runs WordPress, but the theme name itself stays hidden.
Does the detector work on Shopify or Wix sites?
No — this tool is specific to WordPress. For non-WordPress sites it will tell you which platform the site’s generator tag declares, if one is present, but it cannot identify Shopify or Wix templates. The same goes for PrestaShop and OpenCart, so it is not a PrestaShop or OpenCart theme detector.
Is a WordPress theme finder the same as a theme detector?
Yes — theme finder, theme detector and theme checker are different names for the same kind of tool: one that reads a site’s public source code and identifies the active WordPress theme. This page works as both, so paste any URL above to find a site’s theme.
Is it legal to check what theme a website uses?
Yes. The detector only reads files the site already serves publicly to every visitor’s browser — the same HTML and CSS you could view yourself with ‘View source’. It does not log in, probe, or bypass anything.
